Luxapalila Creek Update!

Luxapalila Update:

I received the following in an email from Mike Raita, Senator Tommy Tuberville's representative, earlier this week.

Progress is being made on the flooding issues with Luxapalila Creek. This week, representatives from the offices of Senator Tuberville, Britt, and Congressman Aderholt met with the Army Corps of Engineers in DC and stressed that Luxapalila Creek was a priority for each of them. The Corps is committed to doing a preliminary study that they will pay for and will continue to work toward identifying an authority from which money for some dreding and light snag removal can be appropriated. Senator Tuberville is hopeful that $500K could be available in FY 2026 to start that process.

I would like for the citizens to understand that we thank all of the area citizens for the help and input, but we have to trust the process toward completion of this project. I will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Senior Exercise Equipment

EXCITING NEWS!
The Town of Millport is excited to announce the new senior exercise equipment has been installed. We had generous grants from Tombigbee RC&D an Weyerhaeuser to help with the cost. We still have ground cover to put in place and allow time for the cement to set.
We do ask that it not be used until those things are in place which should be the first of the week.

EXCITING NEWS!

EXCITING NEWS!
Mayor Stanley Allred, Millport Town Council, and the Town employees are happy to announce the Town of Millport was awarded a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund grant on October 16, 2023 in the amount of $1,713,000. This is a no match grant which will enable the Town to update a lot of our water system and replace our oldest water tank which is 75 years old.
We want to thank Senator Greg Reed and Representative Tracy Estes for their help in securing this grant for Millport. 2024 is shaping up to be a very productive year for the Town of Millport. Thanks to all of our citizens for their support.
